Physical education at garnock academy
Facilities
The PE department at Garnock has 4 main indoor areas; the games hall, gym 1, gym 2 and a fitness/table tennis area. As well as this, there is a small weights room at the the Valley Arc section of the building. The outdoor facilities consist of an all weather astro pitch which holds two 5 a-side pitches and a blaze pitch which holds three 7 a-side football pitches.
Kit policy
The PE department has a strict kit policy which requires all pupils who are at PE to bring their own PE kit. However, if a pupil is to forget their kit, the department have spare kit which they will be issued. Those who are unable to take part in PE are also required to be changed into their PE kit as they will be used as much as possible within the lesson.
If a pupil forgets their kit 3 times in one term ie from august to Christmas, then they may be issued with an IBE.

This Month...June
Well done to Jemma Reekie (S4) and Ross Mackenzie (S1) who qualified for the Scottish School Athletics Championships. They won their events, 800m and 100m respectively, at the Ayrshire Athletics at Dam Park this month. The Warrior Run was a great success with over 300 boys participating in the event from S1-6. Photos from the event are up on the site. Excitement is growing within the department for the upcoming Wimbledon Trip. All pupils who have yet to pick up their final letter, see Mr Duncan ASAP. |
